Writers are often asked where their ideas come from. For me, inspiration comes from many different sources, various people, and things. Sometimes the inspiration comes quick and easy. Sometimes it doesn't. This morning I had no idea what my blog would be about. That's where my Kingdom Corner time comes in. Whether it's sharing online or writing a book, when I'm not sure what God wants me to say, I ask the Holy Spirit, Gahlay Rahzeen, the Revealer of Mysteries. I first learned of this Hebrew name of God from the wonderful daily devotional worship book, The Name: HaShem, by Dr. Barri Cae Seif. How we met was one of His mysteries. (You can read about it in Stacie's book, I Will Not Fear: A Chosen Life.) When I was naming characters for my Tresia series, Gahlay Rahzeen was perfect for the invisible personality who speaks, but is only seen as various degrees of blue air. He can be a sparkling azure blue breeze who whispers marvelous secrets, or a deep dark blue tornado who chases off the enemy. I love what Barri said at the end of this page, "I am at peace when I rest in the knowledge that I know you, and most importantly, that You know me." In creating the world of Tresia, I was inspired by Gahlay Rahzeen to create a layer we called the Floating Forest. This above photo was shared by another friend, Janet L. Bayless, in her Facebook photo album, Visions of Heaven. Janet is a fellow writer, an amazing poet, and when I discovered her album, it amazed me how many of the photos contained in it reminded me of places I'd written about. A mystery? She won a copy of the book a few weeks ago, so I hope she recognizes some of her "Visions of Heaven" in my words.
God put the desire to write, especially for upper middle-grade kids, in my heart after I retired from being a library director. One of the things I'm learning about Gahlay Rahzeen is that as I follow Him, walk and talk with Him, trust and give Him the lead, He keeps revealing mysteries to me. It's an exciting way to write...and live. Have you met God, the Holy Spirit, Gahlay Rahzeen, the Revealer of Mysteries? He longs to meet you. |
