Hidden Pictures in the Tapestry of Love

1/21/2016

When my daughter, Stacie, was small, she enjoyed the "hidden pictures" in a popular children's magazine. She liked the challenge and usually had no trouble finding them. Perhaps that's why she was good at working with exceptional children. She could spot the special hidden things inside "her kids" and bring them out.

Most people have heard the poem by Corrie ten Boom, Life is but a Weaving, about the tapestry of our lives and God as the Master Weaver. But I want to share a different perspective. God is the Tapestry. I have heard him called "The Un-Begun One." His Tapestry has always been, is perfect, and ever expanding. As His children, we choose to pass by or spend our lives beholding His beauty. We are easily awed as creation sings; sunrises and sunsets, mountains, oceans, desserts, wildlife, flowers, the night sky. Added to the visible are threads of love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, faith, hope, healing, provision. All are woven through and by Him.

But we must look deeper into the fabric of God to see...Him. To know Him. To love Him. His Word is where His Tapestry is continually created.  His Son made us righteous so we have unlimited access to His amazing gallery. The Holy Spirit guides us into the deep layers of His Being. Spend time, look, learn, and be transformed into His Image. Discover what God has hidden for you in Himself.

Like the tapestry poem by Miss Ten Boom, I believe when we finally see the Master Weaver face to face, all our questions and the things we didn't understand will be answered and revealed. But there is so much to be experienced now if you take the time to find the hidden pictures in the Tapestry of Love. God is Love. This verse from the Message Bible says it all:

Colossians 2:2,3 - I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else.

Think about it.

Just for fun:

The profile picture on my Facebook Author page has many pictures hidden in the background. How many can you find?
