Reading Nook
As a writer, it's important for me to read - especially in the area in which I am writing, which up to 2018 was upper middle-grade. After writing my second non-fiction book in 2020, my focus and direction has changed for my next book, to adult Christian speculative fiction or supernatural realism. So my reading lists are changing and I am concentrating on that genre, which happens to be one of my favorites, so it works out well. However, I always have a non-fiction book on my shelf also, usually one that will build my faith, but occasionally something historical. And my Bible always comes first.
I've been known to frequent book stores and my local library, so some of the titles listed below may be out of print. You may have to dig to find them, or ask a librarian. I want to get kids, and adults, to know the joy of holding a real book, which often means going back a few years to the classics, or what some may think is old-fashioned. I want everyone to discover this truth: Good books are timeless.
This list updates regularly, so check back often to see what I'm reading!
My reading goal for 2023 was 40 books. I read 50! However, I’m keeping my 2024 goal at 40, because I will be concentrating other writing assignments as well. I will not only be reading books, but writing the first book in my new adult supernatural realism series, as well as leading my Warriors Writing group. Mentoring these beginning writers is a labor of love. My mentors have meant so much to me over the years and it is an honor to pass along some of what I’ve learned to my Warriors!
Another part of my God-given writing assignment since my last book, Kingdom Corner Connection was published in 2020, is to buy, read, review, and encourage other authors. I have loved the experience! Several of titles you see here will be books written by my writer/author friends. Those will be marked with an *.
2023 Most Read Authors - Three way tie.
I highly recommend fiction written by these three favorite authors. The five books each that I read to create the tie were all second or third readings, so yes, I enjoy their books!
Nancy Moser
Michael Phillips
James L. Rubart

Devotions
Every day I spend time in my "Kingdom Corner" (read my series, Trinity Tales of Tresia to find out what that is.) Prayer and Bible study are first on the list, but I read devotionals too. 2024 Daily Devotionals: Jesus Calling by Sarah Young My Bible and Non-Fiction reading this year will support the subject of my 2024 Phrase of the Year: “IMAGINE, FAR BEYOND” 2024 Focus Scriptures: Ephesians 3:20 CEB Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us.
